Universal provides environmental remediation
services to NASA

Universal Engineering Sciences, Inc. (Universal) has provided Professional Environmental Services for numerous high-visibility clients, but the most widely-recognized of our clients, to date, is NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration). We have been privileged to work on a wide variety of challenging projects for NASA. Universal has completed contamination assessment, remedial action plans, and remediation on many projects at the Kennedy Space Center. We have developed and implemented plans for sampling groundwater, soil, sediment, and surface water in the process of investigating toxic releases of a variety of contaminates and sources. Universal has encountered many unique challenges in our experiences at NASA including assessment and remediation of multiple contaminate plumes in addition to collecting baseline hydrogeological data for protecting and preserving the sensitive ecological ecosystems surrounding the facility. We have also provided consulting and project oversight for asbestos and lead-based paint abatement projects for NASA. The nature of the Kennedy Space Center, with regard to size of the facility, security, and the large scale of projects at the facility, provided Universal with many logistical and project management challenges.
