Growing up, Mark Hardy, P.E., moved every few years as his father was reassigned to new positions for what is now known as CSX Transportation until they resided in Jacksonville, Florida. This experience provided him with the opportunity to explore each area they lived in, from exploring Mammoth Cave in Kentucky to visiting Frontier Land in New York. He and his brother also received an education in Railroad Engineering 101.
Following his father’s footsteps, Mark completed his Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering at West Virginia University. “Go Mountaineers!” Then began his professional career in much the same way he grew up, starting in Columbus and Toledo, Ohio, and then to Monroe and Detroit, Michigan. For the next five years, instead of trains, the projects were automotive industry related from a new Honda plant and Ford Power Train plant to various improvements at GM, Ford and Chrysler facilities.
Along the way, Mark met his wife Stephanie while working at the same consulting company and the journey continued as he received his professional engineering license, got married, and then they eventually moved south, out of the cold, stopping in North Carolina for eight years highlighted by the birth of their first daughter, Reganne. While in North Carolina, Mark continued to manage and develop a geotechnical, environmental, and materials testing office that also served Fort Bragg and Pope Air Force Base before finally residing with other family in Tampa, Florida.
While residing in Tampa, Mark joined Universal Engineering Sciences, Inc. nearly five years ago, shortly after the birth of their second daughter, Peighton. When not working, Mark enjoy’s spending time with his daughters and two dogs, swimming, landscaping, watching football, and an occasional trip to Busch Gardens.
