Rapid population growth and the increasing demand for land in the southeastern United States, combined with the competing desires of location has resulted in development of marginal sites. In support of geotechnical consulting services, Universal relies upon the expertise of our Drilling Department. Universal specializes in exploration of difficult sites using our all-terrain vehicle (ATV) mounted drilling equipment. As mentioned above, Universal owns and maintains over 35 drilling rigs, ten (10) of which are all-terrain “mud-bug” vehicles mounted with drilling equipment.
Universal’s impressive fleet of drilling equipment is one of the largest of its type in the southeastern United States. The rigs are mounted on all-wheel drive trucks or all-terrain vehicles and can be mounted on special platforms, such as barges or skids, for difficult site access. Universal’s drilling team is fully-equipped and can provide its services on land or over water. Our list of typical drilling equipment demonstrates that Universal is fully-equipped and able to provide in-house drilling services under this contract.
Universal’s Drilling Department is licensed and registered in all Florida Water Management Districts.
Universal’s corporate drilling staff includes five (5) licensed well contractors with over 80 years of combined experience. Our field staff consists of registered, experienced well drillers and well developers and knowledgeable support crews experienced in well development, pump testing and geotechnical instrumentation installation. All Universal drilling personnel are trained in compliance with OSHA requirements for operations at hazardous waste sites and receive annual refresher courses. We also maintain a complete medical monitoring program for our drilling employees, with all staff subject to annual physical examinations and respirator compatibility testing |
